” Leaves have been falling for thousands of years why is it such a pain in the ass in the village. We just don’t understand this. Many years ago we had no problem why is it a problem in the past few years is it manpower, equipment issues, or is it management organization experience the problem which is it. Can anyone answer?”

Reader says, “I’ve been here 30+ years and I’ve NEVER had a problem with leaf pick-up. NEVER”

“Here come the whiners. Just read the G*d damn card and check the Village website to see when you should but your leaves OUT. They will be picked up sometime AFTER those dates. If you feel you must, snap a quick picture of your street leaf pile with your camera phone. That way if you get a ticket, you can show proof that you didnt’t put out leaves after pick up. You can send your photo to Susan who will refer it to the Village Manager to be taken care of, if possible.

Or better yet, do what I do, bring them to the recycling center. I’m 60 years old and have 1/2 acres with tons of trees and I manage it by myself.

I’ve been here 30+ years and I’ve NEVER had a problem with leaf pick-up. NEVER. And it never ceases to amaze me that we have a fairly educated adult population but they seemingly cannot read (at least not when it’s inconvenient for them.”

Reader asks , “Can we get the landscaper fees reimbursed when the town does not come close to meeting their own published schedules? “

leaves3_theridgewoodblog

Can we get the landscaper fees reimbursed when the town does not come close to meeting their own published schedules? Weather events happen, build some contingency in the schedule or a recovery plan. This is not rocket science.
The town missing dates is ignored, if a resident does it they get a hefty fine. Town missing dates requires added resident efforts and or landscaper costs. It also creates a driving hazard for extended periods of time
For us, this is our last winter, Ridgewood has beat us at every level from leaves to parking fees, to obscene school costs, and just amateurs running the programs that are supposed to serve the residents. Too bad

“My being conscientious about not placing leaves in street until placement day does not go unpunished.
On my block area A in front of Benjamin Franklin Middle School everyone has put their leaves out before the next placement date which is Nov. 23. Leaves blow in front of my driveway making a big mess.
