PJ Blogger and the Staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, yes its that very sad time of year again where we remember those we lost on September 11, 2001 .At last count this blogger lost 267 friends and colleagues on that day. Some where local residents but many were from years working downtown in the Financial district .
In recent years , I have made it my business to tell their stories so people will never forget . This year I thought I would share the story of a friend and colleague Cesar Augusto Murillo , located on N-29 , North Tower.
Cesar worked at Cantor Fitzgerald and started just weeks before 9/11 . In the excitement over his new job ,Cesar had asked his long time girlfriend to marry him . The engagement party was held on September 8th, just days before 9/11.
At 8:46 am on September 11th – Mohammed Atta and the other hijackers aboard American Airlines Flight 11 crash the plane into floors 93-99 of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, killing everyone on board and hundreds inside the building. Just floors below where Cesar worked at Cantor Fitzgerald . Cantor occupied the 101st to 105th floors of the north tower at the World Trade Center.
I learned later that Cesar was trapped and made several phone calls that day to loved ones , eventually standing on his desk as the floor became too hot . At 10:28 am – The World Trade Center’s North Tower collapses, 102 minutes after being struck by Flight 11.
Anyone how wishes to tell their story or a story is invited to post in the comment section .
